BRATISLAVA (November 20, 2023) - The European party Volt, which is represented in more than 30 European countries, is coming to Slovakia. Her ambition is to collect a sufficient number of signatures for the establishment of a party. At the same time, it is intensively preparing for the elections to the European Parliament next year and calls for the cooperation of all leaders who still have not found their political home.

It was for the purpose of approving the candidate for these elections that an election conference of party members was held, which elected Lucia Kleštincová, co-chair of the preparatory committee of the Volt Slovakia party, as the leader of the candidate.

After her election, she stated: "Slovakia needs a radically new quality of politics based on expertise and inclusiveness. All my life I hear why a woman like me can't aspire to this or that. Slovak politics has absolutely failed in its ability to be a platform for values-based leadership of European caliber. Contact me if you want to stop just watching and are ready to help bring e Europe to Slovakia in a way that the previous political representatives have not been able to do."

The Volt movement has more than 20,000 members and followers across Europe. According to the co-chairman of the preparatory committee, Rick Zedník, the experience from other countries is proof that Volt is a proven and desirable concept that can bring urgently needed change to the Slovak political scene. "In 2024, 20 years will pass since Slovakia's membership in the European Union. An entire generation of Slovenians and Slovaks knows no other reality than their EU home. They see themselves as Europeans and demand a political leadership that is as modern and open as they are. For example, for this generation, the national parliament, where four-fifths of the members are men, does not represent their reality, where the majority of the population is women."

Lucia Kleštincová will represent Volt Slovakia at the Volt Europa General Assembly in Paris on November 25-26, 2023 as a leading candidate and at the same time moderator of the event and a coach for other candidates and candidates from other countries.

About Volt Europa

Only a Europe that acts united can deal with common challenges. Political parties based on the national principle have reached their limit. That's why we founded Volt as the first pan-European party: to counter populist promises and provide a home for all Europeans. We strive to encourage people to join us in changing politics and unlocking Europe's untapped potential.

Volt was founded in 2017 as a response to the rise of populism and the far right. We are active at all levels of government and committed to winning seats and pushing for reform in the upcoming national, regional and local elections. Volt seeks to build a federal European democracy. In the future, the pan-European movement plans to take part in the European elections in all 27 member states and create the first truly pan-European political faction in the European Parliament by winning 25 seats from seven member states. It will do so with one jointly created election program in as many countries as possible, representing a truly unique and European approach to politics that has never been attempted before!
