Peter Škripko
“No grand visions – just the everyday things a responsible local leader should take care of.”
A Košice Local for Generations. Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneur. Someone Who Knows Staré Mesto from Its Streets, Not from Behind a Desk.
My name is Peter Škripko. I was born in 1977 and have lived in Košice all my life. For more than 15 years, I have been running businesses in hospitality and tourism. I am a co-owner of Camelot Restaurant, Hostinec Brewery and the Ovečka kiosk. I have spent many years developing the local hospitality industry, supporting tourism and organizing events that bring life and visitors to Košice. My family has lived in Košice for generations, and Staré Mesto is where I grew up, work and live. I am standing for election because I believe local politics needs more common sense, fewer empty promises and more people with a proven track record of getting things done.
Who I Am
I know Staré Mesto from its streets, not from behind a desk.
I have been involved in hospitality and tourism for more than 15 years. I am a co-owner of Camelot Restaurant, Hostinec Brewery and the Ovečka kiosk. As Chair of the Chamber of Restaurants, Wine Bars and Bars within Visit Košice, I represent local businesses and have long worked to improve conditions for the hospitality and service industries.
I am a two-time runner-up at the Pilsner Urquell Master Bartender World Championship, a former winner of Slovakia's Best Restaurant Manager award and one of the first professional sommeliers in Slovakia. I also co-founded and helped organize events such as Košice Gurmán Fest and Košice Pivo Fest, which bring visitors and a vibrant atmosphere to the city.
My family has lived in Košice for generations, and Staré Mesto is where I grew up, run my businesses and live. I care about Košice city centre not only as an entrepreneur, but also as an active cyclist and someone who experiences it every day.
Why I Am Standing for Election
I am not here to make promises. I am here to deliver results.
I know Staré Mesto from everyday life, not from behind a desk. I have spent years running businesses here, creating jobs and organizing events. I am not here to make promises – I want to deliver results and take responsibility for the place we call home.
I am not a career politician. I am someone who knows how to bring people together, find solutions and get things done. I want Košice and Staré Mesto to be cleaner, safer and better places to live.
I am standing with the support of Volt Slovakia because I believe in common sense, expert-driven solutions and respectful communication instead of political arguments. I want to run a positive, constructive campaign that brings people together rather than dividing them.
My Priorities
Clean and Well-Maintained Streets – With Clear Deadlines
I do not want to promise grand visions. I want to set deadlines. An overflowing waste container or a damaged pavement? The goal is simple: report it and have it fixed within 14 days, with a clear cleaning schedule and someone accountable for the result. I want residents to be able to see on a map what work is planned, when it will be completed and who is responsible.
Safe Routes for Everyone
Safe pedestrian crossings, well-lit streets and high-quality cycle paths. I do not want to measure success by the number of kilometres built or projects completed. I want to measure it by whether a seven-year-old child can safely walk or cycle to school without having to push their bike along the pavement or ride among cars. Today, that is still not possible in many parts of Košice.
More Greenery and Shade in the City
Instead of scorching concrete, I want more trees and shade where people actually spend time – shade along the walk to the doctor's office, a bench beneath a tree, a playground that does not turn into a scorching hot surface. My goal is to plant 300 trees over four years, each with a registered location and someone responsible for watering it.
My Vision for Košické Staré Mesto
I envision a Staré Mesto where residents can park near their homes, streets are clean, people can sleep peacefully at night and walking through the city centre in summer does not mean enduring unbearable heat. No grand visions – just the everyday things a responsible local leader should take care of.
Looking at Košice and the wider region, I see enormous untapped potential in tourism, cycling tourism and active lifestyles. Good infrastructure, attractive events and cooperation between cities, municipalities and businesses can bring more visitors, higher revenues for the region and a better quality of life for its residents.
How I Work
I am not building my campaign around billboards or large budgets, but around personal contact, trust and being present in the community. I do not want to be a candidate people only recognize from billboards – I want to be someone they have met personally, know and trust. I intend to spend as much time as possible among residents, listening to their concerns and finding solutions together.
