Eligibility criteria for female and male candidates
Qualification
Volt SK is looking for candidates who:
They identify with the values of the Volt. (See 2024 European Elections - Volt Europa.)
They are able to attract electoral votes.
They are ready to campaign on behalf of the party and the entire candidate list.
They will bring relevant expertise and experience in the field of public policies.
They will strengthen the representation of the Volt movement towards the Slovak public.
They will demonstrate the ability to raise awareness of the Volt movement and/or raise funds.
Requirements
In order to apply for the relevant public office, candidates must meet the following basic criteria:
They must meet the relevant legal conditions arising from Slovak legislation in order to be able to run as candidates in the European elections.
They must be members of Volt Europe by the application deadline.
They cannot be members of another political party. However, membership in another national Volt chapter is permitted.
The co-chairman and co-chairwoman of Volt SK, members of the board of directors and senior executives can run for and run for public office without giving up their position in Volt SK. If they are elected to public office, they are obliged to give up their position in Volt SK.
They must sign the Volt SK code of conduct.
*Explanations of terms used below:
Leading candidates: First 2 places on the list, most prominent for campaign and media outputs.
(Other) candidates: The following places on the list, for which active participation in campaign management is also required.
Time schedule of the selection procedure
1. Election of leading candidates for the list of Volt SK candidates for the European Parliament
Based on the process established across the Volt Europa movement, Volt SK will elect at least one leading candidate for the European elections to participate in the Volt Europa General Assembly (AGM) in Paris on November 25-26, 2023.
There will be two separate elections: one for the female lead candidate and one for the male candidate.
25/10/2023 – Opening of the call for leading candidates
01.11.2023 – Deadline for the call for main candidates
16/11/2023 – Volt SK Conference: Election of main candidates
2. Selection of candidates for the list of Volt SK candidates for the European Parliament
Once Volt SK has chosen its main candidate(s) for the European Parliament elections, a separate process will take place to select the remaining 13-14 candidates who will complete the Volt SK candidate list for the European Parliament elections in June 2024. The following section describes the process selection of candidates for these 13-14 positions.
Candidates will be proposed by the election committee of Volt SK and confirmed by the members of Volt SK at the General Assembly. The election committee will have 5 members: co-chairman and co-chairwoman of Volt SK, 2 members of Volt SK, 1 non-member of Volt SK with relevant expertise.
1/11/2023 - Opening of the call for applications
2.11. - 29.11.2023 - Promotion of the possibility to apply for this selection procedure ● The Volt SK Election Committee will organize information sessions for possible questions (for more information, follow https://www.voltslovensko.org/)
Postponed to 10.01.2024 - Deadline for the call for candidates (applicants must be Volt EU members by this date).
11.1. - 27.1.2024 - Internal evaluation and nominations
The Volt SK election committee will evaluate the degree of fulfillment of the requirements communicated above by individual candidates.
The Volt SK election committee will add to the main candidates/*where on the list of candidates the remaining 13-14 candidates nominated by Volt SK for the European Parliament elections.
Nominated candidates are preparing to present themselves before being confirmed at the Volt SK General Assembly.
3/2/2024 - Volt SK General Assembly
The Volt SK Electoral Committee will present the candidates nominated to the Volt SK candidate list for the European Parliament elections in June 2024.
The members of Volt SK vote on the confirmation of this document.
