There is nothing more traditional than a politician who restricts freedom in the name of “values.” Europe remembers this, and that is why we must protect freedom and equality again – in Europe and in Slovakia.
Our Volt MEPs have pushed through a proposal for the Netherlands to refer the constitutional amendment of Robert Fico's government to the European Court of Human Rights. It is clear to us that it is undesirably threatening the rights of LGBTQ+ people.
Every European should be free to be who they want to be. However, populists are undermining our European freedoms and old political parties do not have the courage to stand up for our common European future.
Volt is a new generation that embraces new, progressive and European ideas. By convincing the Dutch parliament of our proposal, we hope that the court will stop Fico's interference in the rights of the LGBTQ community and in our common European freedoms.
